Growth of tuition centres

As a student of BS Applied Biosciences and a concerned citizen, I would like to highlight an important issue regarding the increasing number of tuition centres in almost all the cities of our country. A large number of tuition centres and academies offer different programmes and study courses. Children are compelled by their parents and teachers to join these academies that do not allow them to get enough rest or do any other healthy extracurricular activity.

They cannot take part in sports due to the lack of time. Ultimately, our youths are becoming paranoid .There is a question, why do we need these centres if students are getting sufficient education and training in their schools and colleges?

The answer lies within the question. Mostly teachers in our schools and colleges either government or private are not providing quality education to their students. They do not fulfil their responsibility; therefore, parents have to send their children to these academies assuming that they might fill the gap left by their respective schools and colleges.

It is surprising to note that the same teachers devotedly teach in these tuition centres. If the same teachers know how to teach properly then why do not they do so in their schools and colleges?

Because teachers are paid low salaries at public schools therefore they join other academies to make both ends meet. Our government does not pay enough to our teachers so they have no other choice but to find another source of income and these tuition centres provide that source of income .No one in our society chooses to become a teacher. The people who cannot find jobs anywhere else become teachers as they are left with no other option. Even if someone has interest in teaching and wants to pursue this field, he/she would not prefer to teach in Pakistan because they do not want to live a miserable life by earning just Rs 15,000 to 20,000 per month.

The government should impose a ban on the opening of all tuition centres and raise the pay scale of our teachers and also make competent selection criteria for their hiring. So that only capable people are hired to perform this sacred task of teaching our future generations.
