PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Pervez Khattak has approved the Rs284 million grant for the Frontier Education Foundation colleges asking the relevant authorities to submit a summary on it to him without delay.

He was presiding over a meeting of the FEF Board of Directors, said an official statement issued here on Tuesday.

The statement said the CM constituted a subcommittee under the chairmanship of his adviser Mushtaq Ghani to smoothly run the FEF affairs in line with its mandate.

The committee will chalk out modalities and decide the authority for administrative and supervisory control of the FEF. In the previous meeting, the FEF board of directors said special grant was required for colleges run by the foundation and having good enrolments.

The CM while approving the grant said the government wanted to promote quality education with the end goal to establish a welfare society based on social equality, justice, free of all sorts of exploitation.

He said the government would not compromise on the quality of education so educational budget had been increased tangibly.

The CM ordered the authorities concerned to make the FEF an effective body and achieve its set objectives and targets.

He directed the FEF managing director to continue his responsibilities as the MD on the basis of acting charge until the filling of the post on permanent basis.

Meanwhile, Mr. Khattak said Chitral had natural beauty and it was one of the top priorities of the government to develop tourism spots in the province.

“Tourism in Chitral valley will be promoted on the pattern of Galiyat that will create employment opportunities for the people of area. The funds generated through the promotion of tourism will be used for the welfare and development of that area,” he told a delegation of Chitral at the Chief Minister’s Secretariat here on Tuesday.

The CM said he was very much concerned about Chitral and would soon visit the district.

He said 80 per cent of the funds had already been released to the district governments with the sole purpose to ensure rapid development at gross roots level as per needs and aspirations of the people.
