16 Ramazan Sasta Bazaars to be set up in six tehsils of Pindi

As many as 16 ‘Ramazan Sasta Bazaars’ will be set up in six tehsils of Rawalpindi. As many as 16 officers will be assigned the task to keep vigil over rates and quality of products.

An official, who referred to the directives of Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif, said the 'Ramazan Sasta Bazaars' would be set up at sixteen points, including Haideri Chowk, Committee Chowk, Shamsabad, Khayaban-e-Sir Syed, Dhoke Hassu, Chungi Number 22, Chur Chowk, Gulzar-i-Quaid, Chakri Road, Adiala Road, Gujar Khan City, Kotli Sattian, Kahuta Bazaar, Main Taxila Chowk, General Bus Stand, Murree, and Kalar Syedan.

He said initially 117 flour mill owners have been invited for talks with the local administration to find out ways and means to ensure provision of flour at affordable prices in these bazaars.

“Hopefully, flour bags and other essential commodities would be provided to consumers at reduced prices. There would be no compromise on quality of the products,” he said.

The official said that the best possible parking facilities would be provided at 'Ramazan Sasta Bazaars' and traffic police officials would ensure smooth flow of traffic.

conference: Minister of State Muhammad Baligh-ur-Rehman on Wednesday chaired the conference on 'Peace through Education' organised by the Human Resource Development Network and International Rescue Committee. The conference was arranged in the context of successful implementation of “children education for Peace” model in FATA. It highlighted the current commitments of Government of Pakistan and all major donors regarding children education specially girls’ education in post conflict areas. This model successfully increased the rate of girls’ enrollment in extremely difficult areas.

Conference aimed to highlight the need for replication of such programmes to promote sustainable peace. The Brookings centre for Universal Education, USA, has already documented the project and published a comprehensive policy brief on it which was shared with the conference’s participants. Talking on the occasion, the minister of state congratulated the teams of HRDN and IRC for conducting this successful program with the main focus on girls’ education. I am happy to see 63% girls’ enrollment in an area like FATA through this programme, it proves that nothing is impossible if we have a will to do it, he said.

Reception: The Quaid-i-Azam University Alumni Association (QAUAA) hosted reception in honour of newly appointed Executive Director Pakistan Institute of Parliamentary Service (PIPS) Zafarullah Khan on Wednesday.

The event was attended by diplomats, representatives of UN organisations and great number of old students of QAU. Speaking on the occasion, executive director PIPS said that he would utilise all his energies and abilities for strengthening of parliamentary services in Pakistan and close collaboration with higher education institutions of Pakistan would be established to promote constitutional and parliamentary studies in curriculum.

He said that the old students of QAU are playing important role in every sphere of life. He also extended thanks to QAU Alumni Association for hosting such reception and gathered group of some great personalities for sharing views.

He desired to work in collaboration with QAU Alumni Association also to work for the better understanding of students of Quaid-i-Azam University about federalism and democracy. While giving introduction about QAU Alumni Association, Farhat Asif talked about various initiatives taken by the Association over the years including scholarships for the needy students, get together, family trips and many others.
