Tevta to start Chinese language course in four cities

LAHORE

Technical Education and Vocational Training Authority (Tevta) has decided to start Chinese language course in other cities of the province of Punjab.

According to a press release, three-month duration courses will be launched at Rawalpindi, Faisalabad, Gujranwala and Sialkot.

Currently, Tevta is managing three-month duration Chinese language course for general public while four-month duration course for executive and business community at Lahore.

It was stated by Chairperson Tevta Irfan Qaiser Sheikh while reviewing the progress of Chinese language course. Chief Operating Officer Jawad Ahmed Qureshi and other officers were also present.

Irfan Qaiser Sheikh said more than 500 people had completed three-month duration courses while first group of four-month executive courses would be completed in April this year. Executive Course has been started at Governmen Technical Training Institute Gulberg while general language course at Government College of Technology Railway Road and Government Technical Training institute Gulberg. The capacity of each class is 50 students.

Chairperson Tevta further said people from other cities were contacting to start Chinese language course at their cities. In order to cater the said demand, Tevta is starting this course in other cities. This course will also be helpful for Pakistani youth who may intend to get job in Chinese companies working in Pakistan and employment in China.

The purpose to start this language programme in other cities is to make the already trained skilled labor force of Pakistan more acceptable in the Chinese market

He was confident that Pakistan could attract Chinese manufacturing sector by developing a trained workforce for industries all over the world.

PEF: Punjab Education Foundation (PEF) has employed the District Monitoring and Evaluation Assistants (DM&EAs) to ensure smooth functioning of different public- private partnership based educational programmes for low income families at the district level in Punjab.

PEF Chairman Engr. Qamar-ul-Islam Raja, while addressing the inaugural session of a four-day training workshop at the Directorate of Staff Development (DSD) on Tuesday, said this new tier at the grassroots would further augment the high standards of transparency and supervision so that educational targets could be well achieved. The workshop was attended by 104 M&E Assistants from 36 districts.

Qamar-ul -Islam said PEF would witness further expansion in coming years in its network of school partners and students adding the situation required new monitoring mechanism to ensure smooth handling.

He said this monitoring regime would ensure maintenance of quality education and transparency through its effective check and balance tools.

MD PEF Tariq Mahmood said as education was the prime agenda of the Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif, the foundation was working day and night to materialise this vision by helping the low income families in education of their children.

We have also launched an educational project for brick kiln workers’ children and are committed to providing equitable education opportunities to every needy child, he added.
