Land approved for IT varsity

LAHORE - Provincial Minister for Education Rana Mashhood Ahmed Khan has said that approval has been given for providing land for the setting up of Information Technology University in Lahore Knowledge Park.

The IT University will be constructed over an area of about one hundred acre in the park.
The Board of Directors of Lahore Knowledge Park after a briefing by Dr.
Umer Saif decided to give the land required for the IT University project in two phases.

He told this while presiding over a meeting of Board of Directors of Lahore Knowledge Park, here on Friday.
Secretary Higher Education Irfan Ali and other members were also present on the occasion.

The Minister said that in accordance with the rules and regulations of the Board of Directors of Lahore Knowledge Park Company, IT University is also being included on the pattern of other international universities.

He said that this university will be a state-of-the-art university and will pave the way for arrival of other international standard universities.
He said that Lahore Knowledge Park is revolutionary idea to put the country on the road to progress and prosperity through promotion of knowledge based economy and the blending of applied sciences and the corporate sector.

UHS workshop concludes: The second three-day workshop, as part of indigenous on-campus training (IOT) for administrative and non-teaching staff, concluded at University of Health Sciences (UHS) yesterday.

The IOT workshops, comprising five different sessions each week from November 17 to 26, were planned by the UHS Department of Medical Education in collaboration with the Higher Education Commission (HEC), under Modern University Governance Programme.
Dr Amina Ahmad was the focal person and Dr Umaira Ahsan was the coordinator of the training.

More than 80 staff members of UHS and its affiliated institutions got training in office administration.
The facilitators included Dr Ihsan ul Haq, Dr Asad Zaheer, Dr Sidra Saleem and Sajid Ali Nadeem.

HEC member, Learning Innovation and Sports Division, Shaheen Khan, was the chief guest at the closing session.
She said that IOT was a unique opportunity for universities’ non-teaching staff and employees to refresh their knowledge and enhance their capacity and productivity.

UHS Director Medical Education Prof IA Naveed, said that such an exercise would increase effectiveness and lessen the communication gap among different stakeholders within and outside the universities.
He said that the training was aimed at improving the efficiency of non-academic staff and promoting good governance on the campus.

At the end, certificates were distributed among the participants and the facilitators of the workshop.
