Education babu for 10pc increase in enrolment

All subordinates must obey their authorities for fulfilment of duty without any buts and ifs, Additional Secretary (ER) Riaz Ahmad Shad said.
He was addressing a meeting of Head Teachers of Secondary Schools held at Guru Nanak School here the other day.
He warned that Institutions Heads and teachers would be proceeded against Punjab Employs Efficiency and Disciplinary Act 2006 on showing poor results and dropout of students.
He emphasized the minimum increase of 10 percent enrolment in schools by the end of the month. He talked about performance of head teachers and asked EDO Education Iftikhar Hassan Butt, DEO (SE) Muhammad Sadiq and DEO (EE) Javed Babar to help the head teachers improve enrolment, results and ensure zero percent dropout in their respective schools. Principals and Headmasters Malik Muhammad Iqbal, Javed Shooka, Muhammad Zahid, Mirza Salim, Khalida Ameer Awan, Zafar Wattu and Afia Gulzar opposed that the exemption of 5th and 8th class students from PEC exams, forced regular classes in summer vacations and start of academic session from first January in private schools were the attractions for parents to keep busy their children in private schools by promotion to next classes in January without exams. On the other hand, compulsory PEC exams and start of academic session from first April are notable limitations behind decrease in enrolment in public schools.
Additional Secretary disclosed that the Punjab government notification that every school could arrange “Part Time Coaches” from Non Salary Budget offering remuneration from Rs5,000 to 7,000. Earlier, the Additional Secretary and District Monitoring Officer visited GHS and GPS Mandi Faizabad, GPS Kot Yaqoob and GGPS Rehanwala.
He pointed out the deficiencies in the schools and directed the DEOs concerned to overcome the inadequacies.
gang busted: The Daska police have busted an inter-district gang of dacoits “police-dacoit gang” and arrested its ringleader Mohsin alias Mani and 11 other members including three policemen.
According to the senior police officials, a police team led by Inspector Rana Zulfiqar Ahmed (SHO Daska City police station), raided several hideouts in the outskirts of Lahore, Gujranwala and Sialkot and busted the well-organised inter-district “police-dacoit gang.”
