Brilliant students honoured at UoG

The Sialkot exporters and University of Gujrat (UoG) jointly honoured 28 brilliant students by giving them cash awards during a ceremony held at the auditorium of UoG Sialkot campus.
The Sialkot business community pledged to donate generously for the promotion of quality education and financial help of the deserving students. Dr Nouman Idrees Butt and Sh Abdul Waheed Sandal, former presidents of Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry-SCCI, were the guests of honour.
A large number of the Sialkot exporters, industrialists, UoG Sialkot Campus Director General Dr Anwaar Ahmed, Chairman Faisal Manzur, CEO Rehan Younas, Deputy Director Kaleem Raza, Dr Khalid Gillani, Noma Khawaja, faculty members, students and their parents attended the ceremony for encouraging and appreciating the brilliant students.
It was the first ceremony of its kind held at UoG Sialkot Campus, when the Sialkot business community took initiative to encourage the brilliant students besides giving them upraise for their outstanding performance in their third semester exams.
Welcoming the participants, Dr Anwaar Ahmed announced the formal launching of the “Imam Bibi Endowment Fund” at the campus for encouraging the deserving students. He said that the philanthropists and some leading exporters had donated Rs2 million to Imam Bibi Endowment Fund, named after the mother of Allama Iqbal. He said now the fund had made the dream of deserving students of getting higher education true.
Dr Anwaar Ahmed said that the contribution of Sialkot business community towards educational promotion would lead very positive, encouraging and healthy impacts in the society. He said that the brilliant students were precious assets of the UoG Sialkot Campus and of the nation.
He added that the joining of the hands by the Sialkot exporters with academia would open vistas of higher education for the deserving and brilliant students. Addressing the participants, Dr Nouman Idrees Butt said that the opulent business community of Sialkot and philanthropists should also come forward to play its pivotal role in promoting the quality education, encouraging the brilliant students, besides, opening the doors of getting higher education for the deserving brilliant students.
Sh Abdul Waheed Sandal said that the Sialkot business community will continue its direly needed share to donate/ contribute generously for the noble cause of encouraging the brilliant students.
Faisal Manzur said that the students are the future of the nation and it was the national obligation to provide them conducive educational atmosphere besides providing them with maximum opportunities to shine.
UoG Sialkot Campus CEO Rehan Younas added that proper encouragement and appreciation was also vital to bring positive changes in students’ personality, enabling them to serve the nation and the country in a better way in future.
Some unknown persons threw acid on a married woman over an old enmity in village Jethikey, Sambrial tehsil.
