Axact-linked UK college illegally offers up to doctorate degrees

LONDON: An Axact-linked college had its sponsor’s licence revoked by the Home Office in 2012 but it brazenly continues to sell degrees through its website using plagiarised images and words, pictures of beautiful women and men in sharp suits – and laughable claims that have become known to be associated with the Axact-linked fake degree websites.
The West London College of Business Management (www.wlcbonline.com) is based in Manchester on Stockport Road, Levenshulme, Manchester, had its sponsor licence revoked and would have not been able to sponsor students into the UK as that entity after that date. The Home Office confirmed that its Highly Trusted Sponsor status was replaced with Tier 4 Sponsor status on 6 April 2015. But the college continues to advertise on its website that it’s a “UK Border Agency Tier 4 Highly Trusted sponsor (tyd897wf4).”
A Tier 4 sponsor is an education provider that offers courses of study to full-time students in the UK but the college is openly flouting the laws of the land by illegally offering degrees and courses through its website.
Although, the college is based more than 200 miles away from London but calls itself ‘West London’. The website has striking similarity with around 370 websites exposed by the New York Times as linked with the Axact fake degrees global scam. The building can barely house two dozen people at the same time in all rooms of the premises but the fake pictures on its website show it to be something equal or bigger than the Oxford and Cambridge universities. It offers diplomas, degrees, master and doctorate programmes in every imaginable faculty – similar to the information used by the Axact linked websites.
To lure customers, the West London College of Business Management goes on to claim that it “enjoys association with world’s leading higher education recognising bodies”. It makes outlandish – and completely false – claim that “WLCB receives the Award for the Best University — a group of regional accreditation agencies awarded WLCB the award for ‘best university’ for the year 2015”.
When contacted by The News to find out who had awarded the ‘best university’ for the year 2015’ to the WLCB, a spokesman of the college didn’t have an answer and instead asked why he had been contacted “out of office hours”. He agreed that fake pictures were used on the website and that there were no students enrolled at the college and there were no classes but said that degrees and diplomas could be provided “depending on what was needed”. When asked to elaborate on what he meant and whether the degrees and diplomas were supplied by Axact from Pakistan, he shouted and put the phone down and didn’t take the call again.
The information about this fraud college was provided by an Axactian who happened to sell a few diplomas and degrees for this college operating from the Axact’s Karachi office. The source said that Axact doesn’t only provide degrees and diplomas to the virtual colleges and schools it manages but also to those backstreet colleges which are not directly affiliated but which lure vulnerable immigrant students as well as students living outside of the western countries. This provides a new angle to the Axact scandal as it looks likely that many colleges who could found to be involved in fake degrees business may surface soon.
The Axactian told The News that this college was used by Axact “as a last resort when students forced for an education with a physical campus (also registered with UKBA). Axact could boast that it has educational facilities in the real world too. They were offering online courses for them which was just a formality though, like other websites. It was a money making scam.”
The college uses many testimonials from fake profiles such as one from a certain “Andrew Barnett from Abu Dhabi, UAE” – “I choose WLCB because it’s one of the most renowned business colleges in Manchester and it offers the fastest route towards quality higher education that is recognised all over the world”. The testimony is right in the sense that, according to the insiders of Axact, degrees and diplomas are arranged by Axact in the “fastest” time of around two weeks or so.
