86% enrolment target achieved

CHINIOT-Under Universal Primary Education, the District Education Department achieved 86 percent of the enrolment target of out-of-school children during the ongoing drive. DO Elementary Education Ch Khalid Akhtar disclosed this while talking to media here the other day. He said since the enrolment initiative was taken, as many as 51,000 children had successfully been enrolled in the schools near their homes across the district. He said that that the District Education Department achieved 86 percent enrolment target given by the Punjab government. He said that drive would continue till May 30 in first phase while the second phase would be started from August 15 to October 30.
He warned that legal action would also be taken against parents who did not send their children to schools while all the enrolled children were being provided free textbooks and uniform.
